Dylan and The Band explore a loose, communal blend of folk, country, blues, and rock.
Includes “Million Dollar Bash,” “Tears of Rage,” and “This Wheel’s on Fire.”
The original 1975 album program returns as a double-vinyl reissue.
The Basement Tapes draws much of its character from the informal sessions Dylan and The Band made in 1967. The performances feel lived-in and conversational, with voices and instruments moving together through songs that can sound comic, mysterious, or quietly affecting.
Released as an album in 1975, the collection helped bring these recordings to a wider audience and became a cornerstone of roots-oriented rock. Its mixture of Dylan songs and Band material offers a different kind of intensity from a polished studio production: the sense of musicians following a shared musical language wherever it leads.
