Saccata Quartet "Septendecim" (Yellow Marbled Vinyl) LP

• Pressed on yellow marbled vinyl.

• Four extended pieces cross free improvisation, drone, dark ambience, and dense electric texture.
• The title references the seventeen-year cicada cycle that informed the album's imagery.

For fans of: Nels Cline, Chris Corsano, and the meeting point of free jazz and noise.

Septendecim brings four distinctive improvisers together in a setting where texture matters as much as conventional instrumental roles. Cline's guitar, Gray's bass, and the combined percussion of Corsano and Kotche build shifting masses of sound, ranging from forceful collective surges to quieter, suspended passages.

The seventeen-minute "Uh Oh" sets out the quartet's broad canvas, followed by three pieces that continue its fluid movement through noise, rhythm, and atmosphere. Each player contributes to an ensemble language that leaves plenty of room for surprise. It is an absorbing record for listeners who enjoy improvisation at its most open and exploratory.
