40oz. to Freedom captures Sublime turning a wide range of influences into an unruly but distinctive debut. Loose reggae rhythms sit beside quick punk songs, sampled fragments and memorable melodic turns. The rough edges are part of its character, giving the record the feel of a band finding connections between everything it loves to play.
