Named after the wartime food shortages in Germany in the winter of 1916–1917, commonly referred in history books as the “Turnip winter”, another gem from Pisse that stands out in their absolutely unpredictable discography that’s impossible to categorize.

As you might expect from the title, both 7-inches are packed with pissed-off political commentaries on how capitalism, work and social inequality suck big time. Although not without the typical sarcastic tone they’ve been best known for.

Musically, these two records are filled with some uncompromising, straight-forward punk bangers built around minimalist synth trills. Immediate, political, humorous, avantgarde, or sometimes straight up absurdist, Pisse is a band that always hook me up with their unexpected twist of punk-rock into something unconstrained by the conventional demands of any music scene. They are just doing their own thing while still keeping all the anger, raw energy and authenticity of the early punk scene. If you like minimalist punk with synths, you already love this band.
