K-12 uses the setting of a school to connect sharply drawn pop songs about power, appearance and growing up. Melanie Martinez's close vocal delivery sits against carefully constructed electronic arrangements, with recurring sounds helping the album feel like a single world. The accompanying film extends that visual narrative, making this CD/DVD edition a fuller presentation of the project.
