Fiona Apple “When the Pawn” CD

• Fiona Apple's 1999 second studio album.
• Produced by Jon Brion.
• Includes 'Fast as You Can,' 'Paper Bag' and 'Limp.'

For fans of: Tori Amos, Aimee Mann, Regina Spektor

When the Pawn sets Fiona Apple's precise, searching lyrics against piano-led arrangements that rarely take the obvious route. Rhythm changes, orchestral touches and dry bursts of percussion underline the tension in her delivery. The songs remain richly melodic, but their restless construction makes every shift in feeling register with unusual force.
