Cecil Taylor "Unit Structures" (Blue Note Classic Vinyl Series) LP

• Cecil Taylor's 1966 Blue Note debut explores the outer reaches of free jazz.
• The ensemble includes Eddie Gale, Jimmy Lyons, Ken McIntyre, Henry Grimes, Alan Silva, and Andrew Cyrille.
• Includes "Steps," "Enter Evening," and "Unit Structure/As of a Now/Section."

Taylor treats the piano as a source of rhythm, texture, and motion. His ensemble answers with overlapping horns, two basses, and restless percussion, giving these compositions a force that rewards close listening.

For fans of: Ornette Coleman, Albert Ayler, and Don Cherry.
