Dude Ranch balances fast, wiry playing with melodies that make the songs feel immediately familiar. Mark Hoppus and Tom DeLonge trade voices across stories of embarrassment, frustration and growing up, while Scott Raynor's drumming keeps the pace sharp. The album retains a rough, energetic feel even as the band's pop instincts become more clearly defined.
