Collection: Les Rallizes Denudes

Les Rallizes Dénudés (裸のラリーズ) was a legendary Japanese psychedelic noise-rock band formed in 1967, known for immense volume, long improvisation, and extreme secrecy. Led by guitarist Takashi Mizutani, they influenced noise rock with fuzzed-out guitars and, famously, a bassist involved in a 1970 airliner hijacking. The band was notoriously scarce in official releases, building its reputation on, and for, decades of live bootlegs.

Characterized by relentless feedback, massive distortion, hypnotic repetition, and dreamy, echo-laden vocals. Takashi Mizutani remained an enigmatic figure, avoiding media and rarely performing post-1997, leading to a strong cult mythos. As for the hijacking connection -  former bassist Moriaki Wakabayashi left in 1970 to join a radical Marxist group and hijacked a plane to North Korea, significantly impacting the band's, and specifically Mizutani's, subsequent shadowy existence.

Known as pioneers of Japanese underground psych-rock, they have gained significant cult status in the West in recent years via archival releases.
