Black Mark Records is a Swedish independent record label closely tied to the legacy of Bathory, one of the most influential bands in extreme metal. Founded by Börje “Boss” Forsberg, the father of Bathory’s mastermind Quorthon, the label became the primary home for Bathory’s releases and helped shape the early sound of black metal and Viking metal. Through raw, atmospheric albums like Under the Sign of the Black Mark and later epic, Norse-inspired works, Bathory established a blueprint that countless bands would follow, with Black Mark Records preserving and promoting that groundbreaking catalog.
