FIRST EVER VINYL EDITION!!!

“A come Andromeda” is a TV sci-fi mini-series directed by Vittorio Cottafavi, based on the eponymous novel (A for Andromeda) written by Fred Hoyle and John Elliot, aired in Italy by RAI in 1972. Its soundtrack, composed and conducted by Mario Migliardi, is finally released on vinyl for the first time ever.

While listening to this album, one is plunged into a sci-fi dimension of experimental sounds that are sometimes hallucinatory, sometimes calm and tonal. Alessandroni’s Cantori Moderni take part in this, blending into a magma of sounds constantly balanced between Heaven and Hell. “Tema di Andromeda” (A1), the main theme with Edda Dell’Orso’s crystal voice, with its baroque flavour and modern arrangement with distorted electric guitars and rhythms, was a huge radio and discographic success in the wake of the great popularity of the TV series. “Le spiagge di Durness” (A2) is a romantic and rhythmic string piece, almost a ballet like those typical of the great old Italian TV shows. The original session is in mono, apart from the single and the dissonant tracks (A3, A4) that were mixed in stereo. Fascinating soundscapes characterise this score (A5, A6, B1, B2, B3, B4), alternating between orchestral parts and electronic music. There are also lounge passages such as a flute bossa (A6) and an energetic shake (B5).
